NGO’s online reputation management strategy

The online reputation is how others see the organization or individual information online. Online reputation can be positive or negative. Negative reputation can affect any organization or individuals resulting in devastating consequences especially if not dealt with in a proper and timely manner. Whatever negative issue can be, it would not just disappear if ignored; in fact, it is likely to get worse. Therefore, taking a proactive approach as soon as possible is essential to minimize any negative impact on the organization reputation.

It is important to care about the online reputation of Mahwelereng Centre of Hope. Nowadays the Internet is the first stop for everything. People are living each day increasingly online. Not only do people view the Internet as their first source of information, but they also trust what it tells them. More importantly, they make decisions based on what they find online. Many people see the Internet as the most reliable source of information about the organization. If someone writes something negative about the organization online, it can put a serious disadvantage over the long term, especially if not aware of it.

Mahwelereng Centre of Hope as a non-profit organization (NGO) should always keep tabs on what people are saying about the Centre online and then take steps to correct any inaccuracies. For the same reasons, the Centre also needs to monitor things that they post. Thanks to social media, even posts from decades earlier can come back to harm the NGO. Therefore, it is important for the NGO to have the Online Reputation management strategies.

We should form strategies and use techniques that help influence the perception of the public. It’s about defending our brand; the purpose is to mold public opinion about us in such a way that they view our objectively.

We have a dedicated Public Relations officer who post on our social media networks, monitors response, engage with our future sponsors, respond promptly to all the questions and even meet them in person if there is any clarity that needs to be made.

The benefits of using the online monitoring reputation manage include the following: -

Trust

Many people trust organization with a good online reputation. Future sponsors usually seek opinions by reading online reviews before they make any investment. They put full trust in your organization if they have positive online reviews, therefore you we make sure our online reputation is perfect.

Conflict Resolution

With this, we are given the ability to respond to negative reviews in real-time. We can partake in conflict resolution which is a step that is admirable in the eyes of customers. Watching for inconsistencies in the way that the organization is represented by the various information aggregators can help us isolate and flag it. If a donor finds an old phone number online, calls and gets the new owner or a message that says the line is disconnected, that can create reputation damage before an interaction ever starts. Clean data is key.
